U9, U10, U12 and U14s Junior Basketball Inner City Sydney Team Competitions
Spots still available for Term 1, 2025 season after school holidays! We are looking for more basketball boys or girls:
- aged 7-9 years old (in 2025) to join our U9s team
- aged 9-10 years old (in 2025) to join our U10s team
- aged 11-12 years old (in 2025) to join our U12s team
- aged 13-14 years old (in 2025) to join our U14s team
- aged 15-16 years old (in 2025) to join our U16s team
Join a fun team where kids can get fit and develop ball skills. Kids will learn the values of hard work, being part of a team, while having fun building confidence and resiliency.
Why Join A Team?
Training is important, however the best way to learn is to play in a competition. This also provides an opportunity to learn and understand how teams work, and the trials and tribulations of participating in team sport.
Your Coach
Jason Bateman was fortunate to play representative basketball at junior and youth level for various teams in Victoria, including the Melbourne Tigers (now Melbourne United). He had the honor of being coached by an NBA coach (Brett Brown - Philadelphia 76ers), and while having played at an elite level, also has significant coaching experience with juniors and is an excellent communicator. Jason is a passionate coach and keeps his sessions fun through gamified training.
U9, U10, U12, U14 and U16 COMPETITIONS

U9s - Boys & Girls 7 & 8 & 9 Years old

Game Location (Sundays): Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness, Corner Codrington St, Darlington Lane, Darlington NSW 2008. (About 10 mins walk from Redfern station).
Training Location (Saturdays): Campsie Public School. Evaline St, Campsie
Game Times: Every Sunday (9 weeks)
Match times: 10am-3pm.
Match duration: 40/50 mins including half time break.

Uniform Costs
Each player in the competition needs a uniform. New players should arrange to try on to check size, so we can order before the competition starts.
Singlet and Shorts (Compulsory) - $60
Warm up top (Optional) - $40 (free for all Thursday session participants – included in training fees)
Hoodie (Optional) - $50
Training
Free short skills sessions are held every Tuesday at Campsie Public School during school term. (8am-8:40am). Be aware the groups attending for these are quite large, however it is a good idea to practice as much as possible if time permits.
Team training sessions will be held on Saturday mornings at 9am, at Campsie Public School.
Age cutoff
To play U9s you need to be 9 years old or under, and can’t turn 10 during the year you are competing.
To play U10s you need to be 10 years old or under, and can’t turn 11 during the year you are competing.
To play U12s you need to be 12 years old or under, and can’t turn 13 during the year you are competing.
To play U14s you need to be 14 years old or under, and can’t turn 15 during the year you are competing.
Our teams are a mixture of boys and girls in the same group.
Game fees
The competition is run by Easts Basketball - https://www.eastsbl.com.au/junior-competitions
Total game fees for whole team are $1480 per season. As a one off (this season only), I will pay half the team fees, so the fees per player assuming we have 8 players will be $90. The competition has referees, scoreboard, and is timed.
If you decided to take advantage of this opportunity, I expect that you will commit to attending all of the games unless unforeseen circumstances come up. If you can’t attend you need to let me know well beforehand so I can organize some extras in the worst case.

I am happy to help with transport if needed, and you can pay by week etc. The uniform costs do not need to be paid immediately, and can make special arrangements with whomever needs this.
